Building a Breach Ready, Secure and Agile Digital Business

The Wisdom of Crowds Cybersecurity event in Mumbai brought together CISOs and cybersecurity leaders for an immersive day of collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and networking. This CISO Networking Event offered a mix of expert presentations, live demonstrations, and interactive group sessions that focused on building cyber resilience and navigating the complex cybersecurity landscape.

Top Highlights of the Cybersecurity Networking Event in Mumbai

  • Automating the SOC for Improved Threat Management: The event kicked off with an insightful session led by Avinash Prasad, VP & Business Head, Managed Security Services at Tata Communications. Avinash emphasized the importance of automating the Security Operations Center (SOC) to help security teams manage the ever-increasing volume of alerts. He demonstrated how automating SOC processes with the right playbooks and threat intelligence can reduce false positives, prioritise critical threats, and significantly enhance the efficiency of cybersecurity teams.

  • Building a Cyber Resilient Enterprise Email Programme: Anoop Das, Enterprise Manager at Mimecast, delivered a powerful keynote on email resilience and its role in cybersecurity. He discussed how, despite its importance, email security often takes a backseat in an organisation’s security budget. Anoop outlined strategies for building a more resilient email infrastructure to protect against sophisticated phishing attacks and other email-based threats.

  • Coordinating Defenses with Synchronized Security: Ashish Sud, Head of Western Zone at Sophos India & SAARC, took the stage to highlight the benefits of Synchronised Security, where various cybersecurity tools work together to combat coordinated attacks. He explained how an integrated security platform that allows products to communicate can significantly enhance an organization’s defense posture, making it harder for cybercriminals to succeed.

  • Interactive Sessions and Group Activities: One of the standout features of the event was the group interactive sessions. Attendees were tasked with creating shareable content such as checklists and mind maps, fostering collaboration among peers. These sessions offered a hands-on experience and allowed participants to apply real-world strategies to their security challenges.

  • Keynote on Data-Driven Cybersecurity: Sunil Dhaka, COO at Sophos, explored the shift towards data-driven cybersecurity. As data becomes more valuable and flows seamlessly across devices, Sunil explained how the future of cybersecurity will focus on protecting data itself rather than just the machines that store or transmit it.

Key insights from the Mumbai CISO Networking Event

  • Automation is Essential for Effective Threat Management: Automating SOC operations is no longer a luxury—it’s a necessity. With the volume of cyber threats constantly growing, automation enables organisations to respond more efficiently, reduce false alarms, and ensure critical threats are prioritised.

  • Email Resilience is Crucial for Cyber Defence: A key takeaway from the event was the importance of securing enterprise email systems. Email remains one of the top attack vectors for cybercriminals, making email resilience a vital component of a strong cybersecurity strategy.

  • Synchronised Security Enhances Defence Coordination: Synchronised security is the future of comprehensive cyber defence. By ensuring that different security tools can communicate and coordinate, organisations can develop more robust defences to counter complex, multi-vector attacks.
